Focusing on new tools in the fight against White-Nose Syndrome, this film, halted in post-production in 2021 when HSU closed its communication department, was funded by a communication grant from the WNS working group and filmed in seven U.S. states.

Journey Into Amazing Caves

In addition to writing the companion book for this MacGillivray Freeman production, Michael Ray Taylor served as a consultant on early scripts, assisted in field production, and acted as an early informal liaison between the National Park Service and the Cincinnati Museum of Natural History and Science, which was the first of many scientific agencies that ultimately became involved in the final production under the guidance of MacGillivray Freeman.

The Mysterious Life of Caves

Served as location and science consultant, as well field assistant (especially with cave lighting) in Tabasco, Mexico, for an episode of the PBS series Nova focusing on unusual microbes and their involvement with cave creation.

The Gene Hunters

Consultant and on-camera focus of the pilot episode of a 2001 TV series produced by Cineflix for Discovery Channel in Great Britain (later shown in the United States on National Geographic channel and U.S. Discovery channel), focusing on ways genetic science led to a new understanding of life on Earth. Filming locations, characters, and topics in the episode were chosen from Taylor’s book, Dark Life.
